INFOGRAPHIC ON FIRE RELATED DAMAGES STATISTICS
As a digital marketing specialist at Americover, I was also tasked with the duty to create blogs, blog articles, and infographics. In June of 2016, we focused on fire safety, and the importance of using Fire Retardant product, and I came up with this infographic with some statistics we found from the National Fire Protection Association, or NFPA. It describes how prominent fire danger is and the amount of damages it causes in the US each year. This was posted in one of our blogs.
FOR ARRK PDG
ADDITIVE/SUBTRACTIVE MANUFACTURING INFOGRAPHIC
As a marketing assistant at ARRK Product Development Group, I created several graphics for the website, social media outlets, and email campaigns. Here, I made an infographic concisely explaining the processes of 3D printing and machining, using company specified colors and fonts. This was for an article under a part of the site called the Learning Lounge, where articles about the latest materials and technologies in rapid prototyping are posted for prospective clients to learn more about the product development services ARRK provides.
VACUUM CASTING PROCESS INFOGRAPHIC
Here is another example of an infographic I created for ARRK's Learning Lounge, where I illustrated the basic process of vacuum casting, another service the company provides. I used Illustrator to depict the two-part silicone mold, and a lens as the example of what is being reproduced from the master pattern (the grey lens). Captions using company-specific font explain each step in brief detail.
EXAMPLE OF A SOCIAL MEDIA POST
Another duty as a marketing assistant was to create daily posts for ARRK's several social media outlets. Here, I made an advertisement promoting an event held by UCSD's Triton 3D Printing Club. It was the first ever "Make-a-thon" contest where engineering students teamed up to create 3D printed objects, which ARRK sponsored. In this graphic, I played with a variety of very different typefaces and found balance between them all, while trying to keep the general color schemes of the company.
Similarly, here I created a holiday graphic using Illustrator and Photoshop to convey fireworks for the fourth of July post. While keeping company colors (mainly dark blue), I incorporated a patriotic theme with a traditional typeface.
FULL PRODUCT CATALOG | AMERICOVER
One of my tasks as a marketing specialist for Americover was to create a new catalog to be distributed throughout the world featuring the full 2017 product line. Using InDesign, I drafted a layout that represents the Americover brand identity, but one that can also be read easily in the fields by contractors, shop keepers, agricultural growers, etc. I kept the layout consistent, with key points in the center of the page to focus the eyesight. Once this layout was approved, the content all fell into place.
*Note: some images in this catalog are not my own intellectual property nor represent my content as a designer - many images were internal stock images used on web, print, and other digital media.
OREGON ALPHA COMPOSITE | 2013-2014
My senior year, I decided to test my layout skills on a larger level and decided to offer my chapter to make in-house composites so every member can print their own. These are meant to be printed landscape on 11X17 sheets. The toughest part was evenly distributing the portraits of each member, since some years we had an odd amount and others we had an even amount of members. I partnered up with a brother who had a high-resolution camera, and we took individual shots of each member, then I removed the backgrounds, applied one that I created, and placed each picture in its respective position, ranking from members in positions, then from upper classmen to lower classmen from top to bottom. The typefaces were chosen to fit traditional collegiate fonts used in composites for Greek life. In addition, I used the style guide and graphic standards issued by our National Headquarters to follow specific color palates (Pantone), mainly navy, grey, and white.
Using InDesign, I made a 32 page book of my work throughout my college years. I selected a specific family of typefaces and kept the color scheme a classic true black on white. The several pages follow a grid that I specified, so that each page is in unison with the previous, and all images/text lock onto the grid. The catalog is sectioned off by different disciplines of work, much like this website. I actually modeled the design of my personal site off of the portfolio.
Here is an inspirational poster I designed for my office at Americover using InDesign and Photoshop, with a few images I found online labeled for commercial reuse. It features the patriotic spirit of the company followed by a quote by Truman that really resonated with me. It also features the Americover logo banner I have incorporated into other company media at the footer.
I began working at Americover as a digital marketing specialist and also did several graphic design projects. One task I was in charge of was updating all of the specification sheets in our system for the products we carry. I came up with this logo to bring the corporate identity up to date. Though it is not the company´s official trademarked logo, it is a banner I created which I added to much of the company media ' keeping the corporate color palate and a modern, tightly kerned bold Helvetica typeface.
EXAMPLE OF A PRODUCT LOGO
In 2017, Americover launched a new product aimed at the greenhouse industry. SolaScrim - a 4-year 10 mil reinforced greenhouse film, was specially engineered for the organization as the only 4-year clear cover on the market. I designed the logo to represent the sun and its cycles with the eclipses on the left and chose a custom corporate typeface that was clean and modern.
LOGOS FOR WEB
LOGO PACK | WORLD FIT 365
A friend of mine was launching her site for her personal fitness enterprise and reached out to me for marketing and graphic design support. After a few iterations, I presented these logos to her and she decided to run with them. Using Illustrator, I made a variety of logos for her including a website favicon/watermark, an avatar for her site's social media profiles, and a corporate logo representing her business. I uploaded them as .svg's so that the color can remain true across the web using a color palate that I created for her.
THE EHLEN GROUP, LLC
A colleague of mine at the University of Oregon began his own temporary LLC for political consulting in Oregon, mainly the Portland, Salem, and Eugene areas. He commissioned me to design his logo for him, this is what I came up with. It shows a Douglas Fir, an icon of the Oregon wilderness and Pacific northwest. We settled on the classic serif fonts and rich colors, as they reflect a conservative and professional tone.
EXAMPLE OF A CAMPAIGN LOGO
Throughout the years, I have worked closely with a colleague who runs a political consultancy as his 'go-to' graphic designer for any campaign logos, branding, etc. Here I drafted up a logo for a woman running for a seat for the Parks & Recreation Department of the city of Bend, OR. Using illustrator, I created a vectored logo representing the woodsy landscape of beautiful Bend. Keeping the color scheme clean and modern, I selected a typeface and overall look that represents strength, authority, and a forward mindset, while keeping the outdoor traditions of this Oregon city.
Another colleague of mine during my college years asked me for a logo for his new consultation services, an extension of his local law firm in Creswell, Oregon. I came up with this, which reflects a professional, traditional, and elegant tone. Using Illustrator, I made a vectorized serif monogram with the initials of the company name, and chose a traditional and timeless typeface to complement it.
NOS VAMOS A ESPAÑA!
This is a basic mockup of a tourism logo I created to promote visiting the wonderful life that is Spain. I created this in all vector artwork using Illustrator and custom typefaces. Finished as a .png so that the logo can be overlapped on an image in a print or digital ad.
IT'S THE DS
Here I designed a personal logo and branded my aesthetic with modern abstract splatter art using mainly primary colors. I originally made the background with gauche paint and then went over it digitally. I created the logo (text) using Illustrator and Photoshop.
Using Illustrator, I made a vectorized logo of my initials in form of a monogram, which I then took to Photoshop to add a background, a metallic gold overlay effect, and some luster. Again, I am greatly inspired by Greco-Roman design elements, which I find to be clean, elegant, and timeless. I tried to make the materials look as realistic as possible, but the overall effect was made purely by tools and effects in Photoshop, including the metallic gold effect and the marbled background.
If and when I build my dream home, this will be the logo. Water has always been an integral part of my life, and I always feel the need to be in, on, or near it. Pools are a key focal point for entertainment in homes in southern California, which was the main inspiration behind this logo. The fleur de lis and laurel leaves were inspired by my fascination with ancient Greco-Roman styles and designs.
Using the concept of figure-ground, I made a self portrait of my face using only black, and in vector form. I then placed my face inside a light bulb to add metaphorical meaning and juxtaposition to the piece.
